Revenue Share

Revenue share is a compensation model where a vendor shares a percentage of revenue generated from partner-sourced or partner-influenced deals with the contributing partner. It directly ties partner earnings to the monetary value of their contributions.

Revenue share is a commission model in which a vendor allocates a percentage of the revenue generated by a customer to the partner who sourced or influenced that customer. Unlike flat-rate commissions, revenue share scales with deal size, making it particularly attractive for partners who can bring in large or enterprise-level accounts.

Revenue share percentages vary widely by industry, product margin, and partner type. SaaS affiliate programs might offer 10-30% of the first year's revenue, while reseller programs might offer 20-40% margins on the subscription price. Some programs extend revenue share to renewals and expansions, further aligning partner incentives with long-term customer success.

Transparency in revenue share calculations is critical. Partners need to understand the base on which the percentage is applied (gross revenue, net revenue, MRR, ACV), any exclusions (one-time fees, discounts), and the payment timing.

PartnerPulse supports revenue share models with configurable percentage rates, clear definitions of the revenue base, automatic calculations on each qualifying transaction, and transparent reporting in the partner portal.
